I am finally sitting at my computer to start this blog and launch my website. It's been years in my imagination and months in planning. Of course, I want tit to be as good as it can be, and of course, there is always room for improvement. Sometimes you just have to dive into the water! Here goes! Here in New Hampshire, people are calling this the winter that wasn't. Today is cool but sunny after an unexpected brief snowfall over night that has virtually evaporated by now. The sunshine inspires me and I have been beading regularly so far this winter. Our familiy's dog passed away unexpectedly early in January and by month's end, we assuaged our heartache by adopting two puppies, brother Shih Tzus we named James and Sirius from Happy Potter. They are keeping me busy and can interrupt by beading time, but their innocence and exhuberance is delightful and a tonic for the gray days of New England winters. My photo above is of components I've made . They sit among the array of "in progress" projects on my work table. One goal for thiis year for me is to use and finish as many as I can. Already I've made a pair of earrings with the blue dagger-covered "bubble bead." Some of the shell beads will be incorporated into a necklace I am working on, tentatively titled "Mermaid's Hair," for the League of NH Sunapee Fair this summer. I currently have almost half a dozen works in progress, a happy chaos that seems to suit me. A goal for this weekend is to finish a bead crochet piece to wear a pink crystal cabochon in a silver bezel made by fellow League of NH Craftsman, Joy Raskin. I hope to post photos of that soon!
Oh my Maureen! Your work is absolutely dazzling and has moved so far beyond what I ever imagined beadwork could be! I will always be grateful for those wonderful classes you taught years ago and extended your enthusiasm to other earnest, though maybe not as talented, homemakers/mothers. My beadbox was passed onto Taylor, who makes necklaces and bracelets with abandon; you are the source for that creativity, so thank you! I especially love your sea-themed pieces - I will save my pennies to buy one for my sea-loving mother. Best of luck on your blog and website. I love it so far!

All beautiful pieces, Maureen!! Of course, you'll have to add specifics about ordering very soon...the puppies are adorable, too--I'm quite sure that they cut into your beading time, but also sure they're worth it! Thanks for sharing your work!

Congratulations Maureen!! Your site looks great and the beadwork is gorgeous! Please consider including length of necklaces, possibly photo of pieces being worn to see how they lay, prices, and information if specific pieces can be custom made in selected colors. It looks amazing!! And so sorry you lost your puppy, and welcome to the new twosome.
Good job Maureen! Your work is inspiring, as is your courage to make a website and blog. I love your depth and use of dimension in your artwork. Keep up the good work.
I hope your heart is healing from losing your dog, and glad you didn't wait to get the boys, they're adorable and I'm sure so much fun.
